Granville

I visited Denison and didn't get to do much in Granville, expect drive around. Is there anything fun to do in granville? Live music?

Also how easy/cheap is it to buy groceries, clothes or other necessities?

There didn't seem to be a vairety of stores.

Thanks for the help!

Granville's a "cute" town with a New England vibe. Nice to walk around. Beautiful during the fall, especially. Shopping is limited -- but just hop on 161 (37) to 270 and you're at the shopping, dinner, and entertainment mecca of Easton. That's the best place around for clothing. There's something for everyone - Express, Macys, Nordstrom, J Crew, Forever 21, Banana Republic, Ruehl, Gap, American Eagle, Hollister, two Victoria's Secrets, a brand new Tiffany & Co is being built, Puma, Lacoste, Coach, BCBG. I recommend going to their site which probably has a listing of everything. Easton Town Center.

Newark is near Denison, I think. Never been there. But I would assume it's only 30 minutes or so away -- Columbus is about 40 depending on what part of town you're going to. Newark will have most chain restaurants. But I believe it has some seedy areas that should be avoided, like Columbus does.

Granville has some good restaurants for when you want something other than the Denison food (which I thought was pretty good). I don't know about live music, but Denison works to bring in bands and there are plenty of clubs that will host musical events.

Newark and Heath are to the east, about 10 minutes or so. I know little of them aside from both are substantially larger than Granville, lots of motels, restaurants, etc. altho not like Easton from what we're told.

For our student, this was one of the attractions ... this wonderfully attractive Brigadoonish college village with the college on the hill, but with all the attractions of an urban community just down the road requiring getting to and not being saddled with the many negatives. I'm sure it's not for everyone, which is also one of the great drawing cards for DU.
