Graphic Design Business for Extracurricular?

So i’ve been reading about college applications and I always seem to come across that the highly selective colleges need a deal breaker when it comes to extracurriculars in order to admit a student. I’m currently running a small graphic design business (I have a portfolio/website) but business is kind of slow…I was wondering if this could be one of my deal breaker EC? I don’t think it’s a WOW factor but I just wanted others to tell me their opinions.

Thank You!

ECs don’t have to be a school activity. You should definitely add that to the EC section, along with the part about your business. Don’t worry about showing proof that you have paying customers.

i agree with @suzy100 …you don’t have to show proof. Include your website in your ECs.

Hello! So I’m really interested in graphic design (although I do not want to pursue a career in this) and I have a growing portfolio/website. I guess you could call graphic designing my passion. I’ve been starting since 9th grade and now im entering my junior year of high school. I know it’s a bit too early but I was wondering if I should add that on the EC’s section when I’m doing college apps. It’s not really a school activity.

I also have had a few clients who I did work for and I was wondering how I could show proof of that. I don’t want to just say “graphic design buisness/self employed” because anyone could put that. Yes I do graphic design and have a website/portfolio but I was wondering if I would have to show proof that I ACTUALLY had clients (if that would be necessary).

Thank You!

It will be regarded as a valuable EC - nothing more, nothing less.
