My daughter will be attending Drexel in the fall as a graphic design major. We visited the school twice and were very impressed with the program and the professors. We have heard many great things about the university and she is very excited to attend. The professors indicated they always have more graphic design opportunities for co-ops than there are students available and many students who have co-ops are offered jobs. We also met with current and former students and they were all very happy with the program. They said there would be between 40-80 graphic design students in the freshman class and the class sizes are small. The building were the dept is located is beautiful. Hope this information helps. Good luck making you decision.

@Swimmombs Did they tell you what’s the difference between a BS Graphic Design (which Drexel offers) and BFA Graphic Design (which major art schools offer)?

I don’t have an answer for that question, but I would suggest you contact Mark Willie or Jody Graff. You can find their emails and phone numbers on the Drexel website. Both were extremely helpful during our visit. I know my daughter preferred a university over an art school so she could pursue a liberal arts education rather than just focusing on art. I’m not sure what she will decide to minor in, but she will have many choices at Drexel.

Thanks @Swimmombs.

My daughter is also very excited to start in Graphic Design program. She was accepted to wide spectum of schools (e SCAD UCD Bard RIT) and didn’t narrow down her focus until March. After her first round of accepted visited she decided that BS was more up her ally then the BFA. You really have to look at the nitty gritty of each indivual school. She was very impressed with Drexel’s program and student work (as was I).
