I've been accepted to Drexel with 100% Scholarhsip on tuition (Global Scholar). I'm an international student from India and would like to pursue Graphic Design.

Here are my pros and cons about the school (Please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere)

Pros:

It has a strong Graphic Design course.

It's giving me a free tuition ride. I'll just have to pay the Room and board and the extra charges.

It has one of the best Co-op programs. As far as I know Graphic Design needs a lot of experience and this would held me, I think.

Cons:
1. It does not offer a BFA degree in Graphic Design but a BS degree.
2. The common notion of the people around me is that Drexel is not a very good school, which is confusing me.
3. I've heard the Philadelphia's weather can get pretty rough as time.

Please advice. If there are any current students out there, I'd love to talk to them. It'll be a bonus of your a Graphic Design major.

Advice by others are more than welcome.

Thank you in advance. :)

Drexel doesn't provide BFA in Garphic Design

Hey man,
I’m an engineer. I know very little about Graphic Design and even less about the merit of Drexel’s program in it. That being said, I’m a Drexel undergrad, so I can attempt to help you out somehow.

Your Pro’s list is pretty straightforward and I think pretty good. I think free tuition is definetitely something that should weigh heavily, along with the other factors you mentioned.

In terms of your Con’s list, I can’t really comment on BFA vs BS. Drexel has a great reputation in the US (Atleast where I grew up), but if persons in your area tell you otherwise, it might be something to consider if you ultimately plan to start your career in your home-area, as it might not be of as much value there. To comment on weather, it’s a matter of personal preference. I grew up in the area, so I’m used to it and enjoy having four different seasons of weather every year. Being from India, you’ll probably find it much different. I know a couple students from South Asia/ India who study here and they say they enjoy the weather because it was always just really really hot where they were from, and they get a bit more variety here. Other students from their area, however, might find that the cold temperatures found here during the winter aren’t favorable. As I said, it’s all a matter of preference. Because Philadelphia is in-land and on the east-coast, there’s very low potential for hurricanes, earthquakes, and flooding, so natural disasters aren’t usually a concern for anyone.
