I'm about to start my senior year in high school and I just had an interview with my first choice school USC (southern california). I had a great interview - the two admission directors who interviewed me sent out an email to everyone on the admissions board (one being my dads friend) telling them about myself. My stats are about 3.6 gpa and 2030 SAT and I have a lot of strong extracurriculars and an interesting and unique life story. How much of an impact will my interview have on my admission?? Thanks!

Actually, an interview doesn’t impact your chances that much. After reviewing all your other qualifications, if the admissions officer is ‘on the fence’ about you, he’ll take a look at your interviewer comments.

Many schools still don’t have interviews. Stanford tried out interviews last year (but were not used in actual admissions). I don’t know if Stanford has interviews this year, but if they only just started using interviews, it just shows that an interview isn’t all that important when it comes to the final decision.

I think the interview really helped you. The admission officers will now examine your application with a positive bias. So what you say are true, i think you can get in for sure. It doesn’t hurt that your dad is friend with people on the committee also.

It can only help
