i called them 2day and they told me that there are still lots of admissions left so i donno what the guy above is saying

Maybe UCSB is doing the same thing??? I think I will call Monday.

@ oflyguy: This is directly from the admissions officer.

"Anyway, we have only released decisions twice for FA10 transfer applicants, and our last release (there could even be two more, depending on what out Director decides is necessary ) will include both additional admitted students and all of the students who will be denied transfer admission.

The delays are because we are not finished tomorrow is our deadline, and I will either be dead, or very happy to be done!! Also, it takes more behind-the-scenes number crunching now to scrutinize the data more critically after the first two releases since we need to be sure we dont admit too many more and then exceed our targets for FA10. We have to make sure we have room for any remaining students who qualify for TAG first, since its a guarantee, and then we know how many more we can admit who will be non-TAG. The cut will come somewhere in a list of GPAs - greater than or equal to a 3.00 of applicants who have met all unit and subject requirements, too."

Optispark: 100% right 60% of the time!

It sounds to me like there is credibility in both statements. The majority of those who are looking for UCSD seem to not have received word on their applications despite having proper stats. It appears that they may be nearing completion of DECISIONS on all transfer applications even though they have only released a minority of decisions.

The 10% figure seems a bit low, it may be closer to 30-50% based on what I have seen on these threads. Given that it is almost 4/20 (aka National California community college studentseat twinkie day) they would probably want to have these decisions made with ten days to check and release them in a randomized manner.

I hope I get in, otherwise I will have to goto UCSB and open a Rehab clinic to pay my way through college!

Wait you mean I drove my *** down there and talked to them in person and you STILL got more info than me?! What gives?!

haha.

I don’t understand this line: “The cut will come somewhere in a list of GPAs - greater than or equal to a 3.00 – of applicants who have met all unit and subject requirements, too.”

Can someone explain that to me better?

I have a 3.03 and I’m praying to every god ever prayed to that I get in.

@ Grimes: My friend, I think that means you’re in. I really think you’ll be admitted. I’m basing my opinion off of stats from last year that were accepted: I’ve never seen somebody with a 3.0+ (yes, even VERY close ones) get rejected as transfers, barring things like having under 60 units or admissions rescinding someone for a failed grade in the spring. I think (with 90% certainty) that you’ll be admitted. However, if they changed their evaluation policies this year and borderline 3.0 kids are no longer always admitted, then your chances will likely have decreased.

If the criteria for evaluation remains the same as last year, you’re in.

I really REALLY hope so man. I have plenty of units and haven’t failed a class so that’s not a problem.

Thanks!

If I get in there will e-chest bumps all over the place.

hahaha right on man! Sounds good, I’m pulling for ya!

“We have to make sure we have room for any remaining students who qualify for TAG first, since it’s a guarantee, and then we know how many more we can admit who will be non-TAG. The cut will come somewhere in a list of GPAs - greater than or equal to a 3.00 – of applicants who have met all unit and subject requirements, too.”

You do realize that what they mean is they will admit all the TAG students first and then depending on number of slots left they will then admit from 4.0 down to 3.0 and unit/subject requirement.

No where from that post did i get that they will admit everyone above a 3.0 i doubt thats even feasible from a logistical standpoint

^ Gawd. Stress. I want UCSD so bad it hurts hahaha.

qq i still havent gotten into SD
my friend found out like last month and brought my hopes up. been waiting till now

You should have seen me when my housing message changed. I hadn’t been on the boards in a while and wasn’t aware that there was a “new” one that everyone got. I had a small heart attack. Then I came on here and everyone was like “Yeah Grimes, everyone got that.”

Total bonerkill.

funny thing about UCSD…

they rejected me last year on or around april 30.

and then accepted me about 5 days later…

they’ve really got it together, down there.

That might be the longest post I’ve ever seen…

i thought it made for a nice, dramatic affect.
but srlsy, that’s what begged your response?

touche…

If you must know yes I was in awe and shock after you’re reading you’re initial post… =)

awe and shock??
i’ve outdone myself.

You are so cool pinkerfloyd. You must be from the darker side of the moon…

umm… My friend got in to UCSD with a 2.8 this year hahaha soo Idk about that 3.0 theory…
