Great News Regarding the U in the D!!!!

I realize that this is not the most active forum here on CC, but I know there's still a small community here that may care about this development....

University of Dayton buys former NCR headquarters building - Dayton Business Journal:

Anyways, the University of Dayton, continuing to keep up its sterling record of great relations aind investment with the beautiful city of Dayton itself, bought the former headquarters of the City proper's last Fortune 500 company, NCR, and will turn it into a new campus for the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI). U Dayton is currently ranked "Second Most-Involved University In Its Community" out of the 3,500 colleges and universities in this nation :):):):):)

UDRI alone has already worked wonders in revitalizing the city of Dayton and its business community, spurring growth realted to many technical fields and creating many high-paying jobs in the community. This, coupled with UD's recent purchase of 50 acres from NCR to the west of campus, giving the university access to the river, will put the university on a path for growth to match its recent popularity and good favor from sources like the Princeton Review and the Fiske Guide.

I don't know about y'all, but I think that the University of Dayton can really blossom into a high power and prestige institution, much like Elon is currently doing right now. With the completion of a new engineering school, alumni center, more space for math and science classrooms, and nearby housing at rock-bottom prices to expand current student housing, the institution can really grow and gain some power. Already at my school and many others, attending UD is much preferred over attending comprable institutions like Miami of Ohio, and this trend is only growing further.

Just to emphasize the significance of this purchase in the collegiate community itself, much less that of UD…

UD isn’t trending higher at son’s NE Ohio HS—Over 100 Miami applications. Less than 40 UD applications?

^UD’s a private Catholic school with only about 7,000 students.

Miami’s a public school with roughly 20,000 students.

Considering these numbers, it looks like applications to either school at your HS you refer to are about proportional to school size. I was personally referring to my own central Ohio HS and what have seen here on CC.

Your kind of loose with your numbers—
According to College Board:
Miami Oxford: 14,785 undergraduate students
Dayton 7,731 undergraduate students

^Interesting.

I guess I should not have gone from personal knowledge :)

ohiopublic,

Those numbers only reflect one of Miami’s campuses.

Anyway, UD’s application numbers and yield have both increased in recent years while Miami’s have decreased [Miami launches ‘re-branding’ effort | cincinnati.com | Cincinnati.Com](<a href=“Cincinnati News, Sports and Things to Do | Cincinnati Enquirer”>Cincinnati News, Sports and Things to Do | Cincinnati Enquirer)

The acceptance rate is also lower at UD, but it is a smaller school.
