We stayed at the Wingate Polaris when we visited Otterbein. Very clean and nice rooms - extended breakfast (if you can eat) and not overly expensive. If we'd had more time, we might have investigated the wonderful shopping mall.

is Bell Tower like ON campus?

ToTheStage,

Yes, the Bell Tower is right on Central Campus, a two block walk from the Mendelssohn Theater where the UM audition day begins, which in turn is right across the street from the Power Centre, where the dance audition takes place in the morning. All auditioners go to the School of Music on North Campus for the afternoon where the singing and acting auditions and piano placement take place. There is a bus that will take you to North Campus if you don't have a car or choose not to drive. The Bell Tower is just as musicalthtrmom describes.

Hope this helps

oo, sounds good to stay there, will do.

When going to Boston Conservatory for auditions, you can stay at the Sheraton Prudential - there is more than one Sheraton so make sure it uis the Sheraton Prudential (which is within walking distance to Boco and is attached to the Prudential Mall. You don't even have to go outside. There is a Cheesecake Factory right next door and a food court in the mall. "The rooms aren't great, but good enough. Don't be put off by prices - Boston is an expensive city for hotels. There is also a Hilton right across the street from the Sheraton. This is where Boco has its luncheons, dinners, etc. for admitted students on orientation weekend.

I haven't stayed there, but I hear that the Elliot Hotel is very nice and also within walking distance to Boco. They supposedly have great sushi. Take a walk on Newberry Street. Great shops and restaurants.

For those headed to PSU this weekend, I recommend "The Corner." It was mentioned to me by a parent of an alumni...Very reasonable, good eats, & no waiting on a Friday night! Dress is very casual & we heard a blues band warming up in the basement.

Our favorite Indian restaurant in Pittsbugh is the Indica Cafe on Craig near Centre. This is a long walk or a very short drive from CMU. In an old house, it is closed on Mondays. Another that many prefer and which is less quiet but fun (Bollywood films on wall) is India Garden on Atwood St south of Forbes west of the Pitt campus - a long walk or short drive. These are both somewhat better than the nearer to CMU and Pitt on Craig Star or India, which can be fine, but is rather uneven.

I second catsmom's recommendation about the Sheraton - that's where we stayed when we went to Boston for our Wind Ensemble trip last year. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, and because it's attatched to the mall, you can eat whatever you want in their food court or one of the restaurants as well, all without going outside.

And if anyone is going to OCU, we stayed in the Country Inn and Suites, I believe, and it was a nice hotel as well.

Of course, nothing can match the down everything in the LAX Hilton, but now that Unifieds are over, I'm sure that doesn't matter.
