trying to interest my D in Allegheny College but she thinks greek life might be too prominent. Has anyone gone there who likes it and is not involved in Greek life?

Hubby and I graduated from Allegheny in the 70s and Greek life was not all big a deal. My impression is that it has not changed all that much, but I could be wrong. Neither of us belonged and we both had very active social lives. The sororities don’t have houses, only rooms. When we were students there were 7 frats, the number is now down to 5. According to the website 25% of students belong to a fraternity or sorority. I believe the numbers were similar when we attended. With only 1/4 of the student involved I can’t believe that students who are not interested in Greek can’t find other activities to be involved in.

my son is a freshman at Allegheny, definately not into Greek life. There is alot going on at that school, seems like everyone finds their spot, and for many it is not greek life.
