Greek life at Chapman?

Wondering about some specifics of Greek life at Chapman. D is an incoming freshman.

Town of Orange seems small and sleepy so maybe going Greek is the best way to socialize and meet people? Seems like sororities and frats are generally less competitive and more cooperative at Chapman than at many schools, hosting events like skit night together. True?

D is a film production major at Dodge and is wondering if she will be too busy on weekends anyway, since she'll be volunteering to work on other students' film projects. Is Dodge more like its own fraternity? Would she be left out by Dodge students if she decided to go Greek?

How much $ does it cost to belong to a Greek organization these days?

For those who do pledge, what is the main benefit you get out of Greek life at Chapman?

As a member of Greek life at Chapman, I fully advise anyone who is interested in going through recruitment. Recruitment for sororities are much different at Chapman, based off a mutual selection process. You have the opportunity for a trial run of sorts in the chapter before you are initiated into the chapter, which lets a lot of girls try it out before they commit. Greek a huge percentage of campus, around 36% I believe, and we are all very competitive in competitions but work together a lot (especially in Panhellenic and IFC). I know plenty of Dodge students who are affiliated, they are definitely not left out!

Also, Greek chapters all have their own dues. Greeks at Chapman do not have official houses, therefore you are not required to live in a chapter house. Therefore, dues generally range between $400-$600 I would say, but cheaper or more expensive in some houses.

I adore the Greek community at Chapman. I do not regret getting involved, and going Greek has given me so many opportunities I would not have had if I remained unaffiliated (leadership opportunities, sisters, etc.). It’s wonderful to have a sisterhood and a community around you because of it.
