Greeks Dominate?

I keep reading that frats and sororities dominate the social scene (mainly because there isn't much other things to do on campus). Can anyone comment on this? If I am a person not really interested at all with going Greek, would my social life at W&M be lacking/horrible? Thanks

If my social scene you mean alcohol enabled parties, then no. And if you mean getting to know people and having groups of friends, then no. Some of the larger, and even smaller clubs host their own parties which can often be “better” than the frats’ parties and events (all of which are usually open to everyone). There are also plenty of the official dorm, class, and school wide events to keep you busy. Clubs and sports and other groups provide another way to get to know people from across campus, rather than just the people on your Freshman hall.

Oh, I don’t think so. And even if they did, frat parties aren’t exclusive, pretty much anyone can stop by and have a good time if they want. Join a frat/sorority if you want to. Don’t join one if your reason is you think they control the party/social scene, it’s a bad reason for rushing.

Daughter never joined a sorority, and NEVER lacked for social fun. I’ve never quite underestood all the,“WM has no fun activities.”

You can have ton of fun without joining the frats/sors. Trust me, a TON of FUN.

frat parties at WM are not exclusive. You can definitely go to them if you are not greek. Also, as has been mentioned, lots of clubs/activities throw their own parties, which are generally just for their members.
