I'm currently typing this from the Campus Center and I'm wondering why I'm inside on such a gorgeous day. It's sunny with fluffy blue clouds in the sky, about 72 degrees, and there's a nice breeze. Due to the storm last weekend, Smith really cranked up the heat and hasn't turned it off so I'm almost suffocating in here (and everywhere else but the houses) but I can deal. I'm having a great time and I have purchased a sweatshirt, tee shirt, lanyard, and a coffee mug :)

There were a few surprises. Green Street is closer to the academic buildings than I thought (a plus), the Quad really isn't as far as everyone makes it out to be (neutral), and the people here really make me feel at home. I have to admit that I didn't get paired up with the best host for me though; she lives in the quad and is really social whereas I would fit in more on Green Street. Regardless, she's really nice and I'm having fun tromping around the Quad. I'll be putting Green Street down as my first choice and I really hope to be in Tyler because it's about two inches from the science quad.

Despite the fact that the food isn't normally this great, the weather isn't usually this nice, and there won't be this much free stuff available to me in the fall, I have found the perfect place for me. It's funny because I feel completely at home here even though, as I was thinking this, I was sleeping on the floor and my back hurt like no other.

To the parents of current Smithies (especially TheDad because your D reminds me so much of me), thank you! I would never have considered Smith if not for constant praise for the school. I really have no criticisms of the place except for the fact that the doors are funny :)

I'm glad the weather warmed up for your visit. It was quite cold/wet when I came (I love the rain, but I'm not so fond of the cold).

I agree with you about the quad being closer than I thought to the rest of campus --- actually, the whole campus seemed closer together. What did you do in the quad? I stayed in Ziskind, which is a supposed to be a relatively quiet Elm Street house [it's also one of the two "ugly" ones...heh]. We went to town, saw a movie, and looked around the campus. Like you, I definitely felt "at home," so to speak.

If I go to Smith, which I most likely will, I'm probably either going to put Green Street or Central Campus down as my first choice (supposedly they used to be considered the same location, but they have since divided them on the housing form). I don't really know what the difference between them is, though.

My daughter loved Smith during Open Campus - it reminded her of last year when she made her final decision to attend. She gave tours, hosted a prospie, and generally loved the wave of yellow book bags that swarmed the campus.

Welcome to Smith! Next year, you will be the ones with prospies sitting in on your classes.

TD, they are standing up, yes. Did you expect otherwise??

I was in Scales but I didn't do much there. I did, however, come up with 546 reasons why I don't want to live in the Quad even though I seem to remember only 543-546.

TOM, you said the doors were funny, prompting me to ask if they were doing stand-up (comedy), not if they were standing up.

I went to some parties like that when I was your age.
