Grinnell RD class of 2019

@4kids4colleges No need for confrontation, I just have to demonstrate to my family that this school is on par with others I have been accepted to (Colby, Bates, and others), and I need more than my word to convince them.

@Ctesiphon And they know names like Rice and Brown, so I’ll gladly pass on this info. Thanks!

My sincere apologies @sammythang1234. Did not mean to be confrontational at all. Your experience is simply the opposite of ours (as a parent I did my best to educate my child about the many, many virtues of Grinnell, a school I applied to and was accepted to, but did not attend, many moons ago). , Good luck to you.

@sammythang1234 I totally understand, every time I tell someone my son got into Grinnell, they say “Who that’s great Cornell is such a good school.”

I’m kind of glad not many people know about Midwest LACs (or LACs in general), so they aren’t flooded with applicants and I can actually get in LOL.

At least we in the Midwest don’t know much about LACs. The name of every single Midwest LAC I came across in my search was completely new to me (except Oberlin)

Waitlisted at Grinnell. The next day Carleton accepted me. Huh, strange.

I thought carleton wasn’t releasing decisions until the 28th?

@Ctesiphon‌ Carleton mailed decisions on 3/19. People in MN got them Friday, and others (IL, MI, etc.) got them Saturday, we’re still waiting here in TN.

Carleton has snail mailed letters. Those of us in the midwest have already heard.

That’s odd. I live in Missouri and nothing has come in the mail yet for me. Maybe that wasn’t one of the states included. I guess I can expect it this week then, if IL has gotten them.

Sigh remember guys this is a Grinnell thread not Carleton, although both colleges are fantastic!

I am so sorry–I didn’t mean to offend you.
Anyone going to the Grinnell weekend thing on Apr 12-13 or the 19th?

@Ctesiphon‌ Do you know if Grinnell is offering paid trips to visit?

No I am not sure

I got my acceptance news a few days ago. I’m an international student with a 2000 SAT and my gpa is around 3.8. They offered me a wonderful financial aid as well !!

I had an early acceptance back in February, trustee scholarship, with a calculated mere $2,700 in loans + work study left after all the merit and need awards. I was offered a free fly-in.
ACT: 31
SAT: 1970 (maybe 1950, so nards to the whole 2200+ biz)
GPA: UW: 3.98
Extremely grateful

Does Grinnell pay for admitted students to visit?

I was personally contacted by Tom Butterfield, so you could try emailing him expressing your interest to visit and I’m sure he’ll do all in his power to help you.

Hi guys, if you are an admitted student of color then ask Grinnell if they would pay for you! It is to increase diversity on campus. However, if you explain your financial situation, I am sure Grinnell would try their best to accommodate.

Thanks for your responses!

Please does anyone have an idea if financial aid will be awarded to students taken off the waitlist?
