Grinnell vs. Kenyon

Differences? Why choose one over the other?
Academics? Campus spirit? Competitiveness?

Many thanks,

We didn't visit Kenyon because the students sounded more "normal" on paper than what my son was looking for. He wanted a more unconventional bunch of student, "weird" in his words, who think differently from the mainstream, are really interested in ideas and "play" in off-beat kinds of ways. Grinnell met every criteria. I've heard Kenyon is great too, but it didn't sound like as good a fit to my son.

My brother is currently attending Grinnell and I will be starting my first year at Kenyon this fall. These two colleges have very similar academics, but I chose Kenyon for a couple of reasons. I lived in the town of Grinnell my whole life, and so I was able to take some classes at the college. While I did enjoy my professors there, I personally liked the ones I met while visiting Kenyon more. Also I chose Kenyon since they their department for my major seemed a little bit better than that of Grinnell's. I had some more personal reasons too. I wanted to get out of the town I grew up in, and I didn't want to attend the same school as my brother, but these wouldn't apply to you. However, Both Kenyon and Grinnell are great schools and I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever choice you make.

Herheo,
