Im preparing to apply for undergraduate programs in Grinnell this year? I want to ask if the COVID affects much the application acceptance rate for international students. And im certain about choosing Grinnell as my ED choice but are the job prospects and after-Grinnell going well since the setting of the school is not really advantageous.
hi there. as far as i’m aware, COVID does not immediately impact whether or not you will be accepted (the USA is and has been doing absolutely terrible in terms of containing the virus, so the entire country has no room to talk… grinnell is doing splendidly, though); however, the acceptance rate for international students always tends to be lower than the overall acceptance rate at all colleges— in other words, look at a school’s acceptance rate and cut it in half, as that’s probably a better indication.
the job prospects after grinnell are plentiful, and those i know who graduated this past may (who wanted to go directly into the workforce) managed to land a job. although, i do believe it is too soon to tell just how direly COVID will impact the job market in the future (especially in the USA if the virus continues to spread by the multi-hundred thousands every day).
i say if you’re certain about choosing grinnell as your early decision choice—if it feels right—do it. you’ll be making an incredible decision.
Thank you for the comment. Really appreciate that
