Groton: Co-ed dorms?

i went on a tour to Groton a couple of days ago, and the dorms are co-ed! whats up with that?
is that a bad thing? or a good thing?

I thought their dorms were beyond weird. Those tacky cubicles!!

It really depends on your point of view, I guess. I mean, parents might be reluctant to send their kid to a place with co-ed dorms, but you might like it...

Like tommeister said, it depends on your point of view. I would probably like it, because I have many friends who are boys (along with a few friends who are girls), and I find it very enjoyable to be around the different sort of energy that boys tend to bring. When I was at Oxford, at a summer program in the colleges, girls and boys were housed on the same floor, and it wasn't ever a problem. However, some people might see it as a risk of privacy, and think it is wrong it put girls and boys in the same dormitory. You have to decide for yourself whether you would enjoy that kind of atmosphere.

I don't even want co-ed dorms for college! lol

Seriously, though, how awkward would it be to have boys around where you live? You wouldn't be able to do any girl stuff. You'd have the tension that boys can bring 24/7... And that can't be safe... Didn't a girl get raped at Milton a couple of years ago? They have single sex dorms. Imagine if they had co-ed ones...

Boy's and girl's are usually on two separate wings. There are restrictions on inter-visit. If one breaks the restriction, one will be disciplined.

If not seperate wings than separate floors. It may seem weird because it's not the norm for boarding schools.

oh oops. I think people may have misunderstood me about the co-ed dorms..I meant they were in the same building. well, i thought it was okay since the tour guide told me about the restrictions and everything but i just wanted to know everyone else's opinion... =)
