Groton Reapplication

We reapplied to Groton this year and received a rejection this AM ( with its ensuing disappointment), then later this afternoon, received an email indicating that there was an error and they had sent out last year’s letter in error. The email indicated that we should have been notified that we were wait listed. Has this happened to anyone else? What is your take on this? I know they want accurate notification of our status, but do you think that doing so really makes a difference since it was not an acceptance?

Congratulations, I guess it is slightly better than a rejection. I’ve seen maybe two Groton acceptances and maybe 7-8 WL posts today. And maybe only 1-2 rejections. We were waitlisted too but it seems like the WL is super inflated, given that they only take about 5 from the WL each year. Hope you are one of the lucky ones. We’re not holding our breath here.

Groton is sooo much smaller than most of the other schools. They only have 90 spots and 28-30 of them are for 8th grade.

@raddad2018 Thank you for your reply. Good luck to you too. We aren’t banking on the fact that Groton will offer admission. It’s stings when we have 4 wait lists and 2 rejections- better than 3 rejections, though, if Groton hadn’t revised their communication.
