Gruber's TESTS? should I use them or just CB

Okay,
I purchased Gruber's
a. compete SAT Reading Book
b. Gruber's 2400
c. gruber's Math

I've read on here that I should ONLY do the CB tests, but that I should use strageties from these other books? Does that apply to Gruber? His bio is the front of the book looks like someone I should pay attention to... just not certain about WHY ONLY use CB's tests?

I think people suggest CB’s tests because they are most like the actual SAT. Out of all the SAT books I’ve looked at, I would say CB and Princeton Review are the most realistic. I bought the general Gruber’s SAT book and I found that some of the test questions were obscure/unrealistic. However the tutorial portion of the Gruber’s books was good/comprehensive. Bottom line, Gruber’s has good prep sections, but CB has the best tests. Hope that helps.

Think of it this way. You know how every practice test has a “fake” section? The purpose of that section is to create data that helps the CB develop better tests. There are 2 million SATs given every year. Think of all that experimental data that the CB can use, for free, to develop accurate tests that produce reliable scores! What’s more, because the CB is a nonprofit that administers tests used by the federal government, they are required BY LAW to create and give fair tests. If their tests are arbitrary, they can be sued for tons of money. So they have lots and lots of people dedicated to creating fair and consistent tests in order to avoid lawsuits.

All of that compared to one dude with a Ph.D. and a full-time career writing books.

No contest.
