I was recently admitted into the UGA honors program and think i have a decent shot at getting into Georgia Tech. I want to major in Business, so which school would be better for that? Also, is it true that people make fun of businesses majors at georgia tech since it’s mainly an engineering school?
I never heard anyone make fun of Business Students at G Tech. The program is actually rated very high for a school typically known for STEM…But are you already know, these two schools are apples and oranges when it comes to location, vibe, and the general student body. There is no right or wrong. But my understanding is that if your graduate from G Tech, you will have a job offer. Georgia Tech is the more prestigious University. This is of course does not translate into the better fit.
3 friends from my high school who are now at Georgia Tech (OOS, not GA residents) are majoring in Mech E, Elec E, and Aero, and all three of them say that Management / business majors at Georgia Tech have it easy. I wouldn’t say they make “fun” of them so much as grudgingly observe that the Management majors have easier courses, more time to party and enjoy the sports scene at GT/greater Atlanta.
I don’t know as much about UGa but would imagine job prospects for UGa grads in Georgia are very good. I believe the “Terry School of Business” at UGa is fairly well regarded too (?) My GT friends also say that the social life at UGa is great, as they often go out to Athens to try to meet Georgia coeds.
Totally different schools though.
Both schools have excellent business programs. You should decide based on fit.
Georgia Tech’s business school is more technical with great majors in supply chain/ production /operations, etc. It’s a great school if you’re wired for that type of business. Georgia’s program seems more traditional. Both schools are ranked highly. It should be clear based on what you want to study which school would be the best fit
GT’s location in Atlanta is a huge plus for internships, etc. Assuming you are admitted to GT, visit both and see which you like better.
