To back up Stacy's comments, Rice/Baylor strongly encourages students to be well-rounded. They don't want science major robots. Rice's requirements include credits in many different areas of study. Generally 50 are asked to interview, 15 are chosen for the program each year. Applicants must be Early or Interim Decision.

In Ohio the Univ of Cincinnati College of Medicine has a program with a few of the universities in SW Ohio. Kent State and Akron U have a program with NEOUCOM.

I have 1 son, 1D (twins)...son skipped a grade so he we went to college this year, D is ready for next yr. Hope this explains

University of South Florida and UMiami. These may not be as difficult to get into as Brown and Rice, though it certainly isn't easy to get in. Check the websites under honors programs. We have several friends who have kids in these programs and they're very pleased. It's a great deal IMO, as medical school admission is a gamble...even for our strongest kids.

Here in IL we have what they call GPPA program in premed, predental and prepharmacy at University of IL at Chicago. I believe it is open for state residents only and kids who get admitted are in top 3-5 % of their class and have top numbers GPA and tests. Student gets admitted to UIC medical school and does not have to take MCAT.
Knox college has early identification program where during first year students apply and after finishing first year they are accepted to Rush Medical School or GWU after they graduate from Knox. Students do have option of applying to other med schools while having garanteed spot waiting for them. Knox has about 12 % of their students go into medical field. I believe Knox students do take MCAT as everyone else.
