I have heard that some school offer programs that guarantee acceptance into their medical school if you maintain a certain GPA and make a certain score on the MCAT.
What schools offer these programs and what is the difference between this and the BS/MD programs, or are they the same?

Here’s info on one of these programs for Rice undergrad/Baylor med: [Rice University | Prospective Students](http://futureowls.rice.edu/futureowls/Rice_Baylor_FAQs.asp)

Northwestern (HPME), Brown (PLME), Rice (I believe it’s called Medical Scholars) to name a few. Maybe Emory as well?

WUSTL:

[University Scholars Program](http://admissions.wustl.edu/faq/Pages/USP.aspx)

Guaranteed…with a 3.8 and 36.

Well, Brown is my top choice for my undergrad, so I’m definitely going to look into their program some more.

I was also interested in Wash U, the 3.8 and 36 may be a little difficult to attain though…

I live in Georgia, so Emory may be a good choice.
Does anyone know the GPA/MCAT requirements for their program?

I want to live in California, are there any schools there that offer it?

The Rice/Baylor program site didn’t say anything about maintaining a minimum GPA, is there one?

Ahahahahahaha. Good luck with that. If you have a 3.8 and a 36, unless those numbers were at the price of good ec’s or you’re a psycho, you can probably get in somewhere else.

I agree that does seem pretty ridiculous, but don’t forget WUSTL med school is a top 3 school.

In research, yeah. But those numbers will also make you competitive at Harvard, Hopkins, Duke, Penn…basically everywhere else. I don’t know the specifics of the University Scholars Program, if you are obligated to go to WUSTL for med school if you get into this program out of high school and make the cuts, or if this just guarantees an acceptance IF you make these numbers. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be obligated to one medical school if I had a 3.8/36, I’d want to shoot for other med schools and then make a decision.

Competitive? Yes. A guaranteed admit? Not even close. But I do agree the offer is much less attractive than an actual “guaranteed admit” program, but then again, Feinberg, Alpert, Baylor, etc. while awesome schools, are no WUSTL.

Though I have to say, this is coming from someone whose only experience in this area is vicariously through acquaintances.

While WUSTL med is highly ranked, and it is probably an awesome med school, it does have a reputation on SDN as being the biggest and most famous example of a “numbers whore” school.

I think Pitt has a guaranteed program.

Here’s one

[NEOUCOM | Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy](http://www.neoucom.edu/audience/applicants/succeed/admi/admiinfocurrentHS)

Here’s a cc thread on all of these programs

Check out UCSD’s Med Scholars Program. It’s very competitive though. They only take a handful each year.

No obligation.

I believe Tufts has a guaranteed program as well. I think you don’t even hace to take the MCAT.

Ha ha, if someone can get 3.8 and 36 at a competative school like WashU, you wouldn’t really need guaranteed admission to WashU Med.
