Yeah, I’m pretty much in the same boat. I get berated for it, but “nomadic” music listening is always more refreshing than sticking with a particular slew of bands for the rest of your life.

Nah, I feel pretentious when I say “I love Skrillex and dubstep!” (I actually don’t)

The majority of people who say that are either trying to look ‘cool’ or are wanna-be DJs. Or both.

Guilty pleasure: twilight soundtracks

They actually have some pretty good bands lined up on the albums. Grizzly Bear collaborated with Victoria Legrand on a pretty cool song. Vampire Weekend, St. Vincent, the Features, The Bravery and the Black Keys(I actually think that the song on that soundtrack is one of their best) are on there too. I guess it’s not a guilty pleasure in the type of music on those albums just the fact that “twilight” is branded on the artwork. Most people are repelled by that.

Oh other guilty pleasure: 80s pop/new wave like Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, etc.

@smorgasbord: oh, dubstep… i like mount eden a lot and some borgore but i haven’t really listened to it enough. i agree, its fans are a little unbearable.

@helloel: my friends and i went to all the twilight movies just for kicks (we have a long-standing bad movies club) and i was surprised at how good the soundtracks were! and +1000 for depeche mode.

This thread has devolved into “huehuehue indie”; it looks like /mu/ hahah
Besides K-pop, I think go-go and Wale aren’t half bad (but they’re not on my iPod). Maybe since I live in the DC area I’m just used to them, or something.

You know, I don’t get what’s wrong with JBiebs.

I like “Baby” and “Eenie Meenie”. Shhh…

My school news show took full advantage of playing “Chillin” in the mornings. :D

hipsters hipsters everywhere

your indie bands are known by errbody homie!

my guilty pleasure is the occasional weezy phase…but they last no time usually

Hey, what’s so bad about /mu/? I’ve encountered some fantastic **** on that board.

Oh yeah and Matisyahu is guilty pleasure music for me though hah. I mean I don’t listen to him all that much, my friends just find it extremely funny and amusing that I even bought a couple of his songs. I also went through a little reggae phase. And I have some reggaeton that I barely listen to, but I got into right before I went to Spain even though that music doesn’t necessarily come out of Spain, (more like Latin America) and they mainly listen to American pop over there.

@anaychi: The sharethreads are great, no doubt about it, but 90% of the threads over the past few months have been nothing but forced memes and meta threads.
