Guys, I am so damn unlucky

It was the proctor’s fault for not allowing you to use the watch, and it was their fault for calling you out for bubbling in things after time was called (if it was really the case that you weren’t bubbling).

And yes, the racism thing is a stretch, but I don’t know who this proctor was (and neither do any of the harsh posters on this thread). Maybe that was the case, maybe not, who knows.

But what’s done is done now. You just gotta work with what you have. You could always test in January and send in that score in addition to whatever score you have now. Some colleges would take it into consideration.

@CottonTales I didnt state all people in Idaho were bad. I was just saying, from the point of other people view. Idaho has been changing for the past few years. I never expected this to happen at the test (as anyone would expect). This was completely unexpected and totally wrong.

I’am not blaming anyone, I’m just stating that the Procter wasn’t being fair. The only fault I have was telling the Procter that the watch is allowed (and that’s not even a fault). No game is being played, i’m only stating the facts as I know this is happens to other people.

I will not state my SAT/ACT score because they are not good and nor the schools I’m applying for as I will get laughed at. I’m just trying super hard, and I’m learning as well.

Anything else?

@shkodra14

Thank you so much, but the sad news is that the SAT/ACT test sates are not offered in January. Only in February is the ACT. But it will be to late to send it test scores for the schools that I’am applying for. Maybe I’ll give them a call to see if they can be lenient. Otherwise I will terminate the application for the schools that i’m applying for except for one.

If you weren’t ready, you weren’t ready. It does happen.
Make sure the rest of your application is strong.

FWIW: I see a number of grammatical and spelling errors in your post. I know it is a public forum, so it shouldn’t be perfect, but I see a lot of consistent errors.

@“aunt bea”

oh yes, I worked on my essay, resume, letters of recommendation. But still, test scores matter and either way I go. I know I’m going to have some difficulty.

even then, its still good to know what you got.

I think if a proctor is unsure of a rule and goes to the person in charge of testing, a prudent test taker waits for clarification. It doesn’t sound like you got permission to use the watch. Was the proctor wrong? It sounds like it. But they apparently didn’t think so. It seems like they kept a close eye on you after that. So when you did break the rules, the proctor called you on it. I don’t know why that’s surprising. If you expect the proctor to follow one rule (allow the watch), you should expect them to follow the others (pull the exams of kids who continue working after time is called).

Blaming others because you got caught breaking the rules isn’t an attractive trait. Suggesting that they’re racist or aren’t “open” to others because they’re from Idaho (because all people from Idaho must be the same?) are pretty awful things to say. Why should the testing agency be lenient to that attitude?

@austinmshauri

you miss understood, I did not say all of Idaho was racist (again) but its there. I’m not trying to use that as a scapegoat, but why call me out especially when I followed the rules. I didn’t bubble when he said stop, I just simply drooped my pencil, sure it left a mark, but if was before. For the watch I did wait and he said OK, so I continued. When he told me to leave, I didn’t argue with him, I just simply said OK and left. I believe if there was a student in my place who was going through this, he/she could have argued or even yelled. I kept my cool and left.

I’am not blaming, I’m just pointing out what happen (is that blaming) no not really, your just listing the facts.

And I’m not talking about the testing agency being lenient, I’m talking about the schools i’m applying to.

Any other question you have bud?

@sanimri7 if you’ve got bad luck with standardized testing you can apply to test optional schools. There’s plenty of students who do that and live perfectly happy lives. Time to move on.
I’m nog going to comment on what happened during your bad test day. I wasn’t there so I don’t have a full picture of how things went down. The only thing I would say is that proctors are in charge. Maybe you rubbed them the wrong way. Who can tell, we don’t know.

@WilliamNYC

I can say that the Procter, wasn’t happy when I got in (maybe he had to wake up early). I don’t have good test scores. But I have one score that may be able to get me into at least 2 schools. all the others one need better UofArizona is a close one to.

@sanimri7 it’s not going to be the last time you need something from someone and the vibe is off. Happens to all of us. It’s people, we’re a bunch of imperfect beings.
Work with what you have and be strategic about what schools you apply to. Good luck.

@WilliamNYC I’ll see what I can work with. I’ll ask college admission if they can accepted the ACT in February, while I just send them a temporary score. I really don’t have much to work with, and that is why i’m saying i’m out of luck.

But thanks (for saying good luck :slight_smile: )

@sanimri7 I am sorry that you have such a bad day, but I agree that it is time to move on. Try to look into test optional schools. Also schedule another test, it may be late for most schools, but there are schools who has rolling admission and the result may be useful.
All the best

@annamom oh yes,

Michigan told me that they can take the February test so its good there. I’ll check on other schools, but for now I’ll work hard for the February test.

did you try to practice the real (past) ACT test and know what your weakness may be? google CRACK ACT one word for previous tests.

@annamom
I have the official act prep guide, but the practice test doesn’t seem to work. You see the ACT is a concept based test. So I bought some grammar books and the reading guide to help me with my score. Reading, I’ll just have to practice

@sanimri7 I will not be commenting on your experience because I wasn’t there, but sorry if it was indeed true. I also took the Dec. ACT and did fairly well. I recommend taking all the official ACT practice exams. Google official ACT practice tests, a good prep scholar article pops up with links to the 5 unique tests. Good luck.

And the thing about the ACT being a concept test- sure, you have to know concepts, but it’s really a “hard work” test. Put in the time to understand what the test looks like. You might miss a 9th grade math question because they asked in a weird way; I know I have before. Every answer you get wrong, you must know why you got it wrong and how you will avoid the same mistake in the future

Why did you wait till December to take the test again? You should have started studying earlier.

@snowfairy137 I studied my tail of man

I was doing well till I got to the math, (again I should have practiced the real test). otherwise, I could have done well. Hey, I’m now reviewing material over break, so I will be ready to tackle the February test. I waited because I have now learned the complete syllabus of the test. I now know how it works and now I will do it boldly.

@GreekScholar1

Hey man, Nice to hear that your experience went well. I actually have complete books of the real ACT practice exams. I have a lot of book to prep me up so now things will be fine.

May I ask, What did you get on this December test?

Oh yes, its all concept based

  • English = grammar
  • Math = From Prealgebra to Precalculus
  • Reading = Can you read hard books
  • Science = Can you analyze data fast and accurately

I got a 36. Sure, you need to know the stuff. If you’re below 26 you need to learn concepts more. If you’re above 26, you need strategies and timing.
