Hey, i've been thinking about the ED rate... and i actually realized that 39% ED acceptance rate for last year was HIGH. lol :)

cuz there's 7 colleges within Cornell and you get 39% when you average all those 7 colleges' ED acceptance rates rite??

so that means, some colleges such as CALS and CAS have acceptance rates like about 50%!!!!! like whoah!!!! hahaha

i think this is generally the ED rate by college... correct me if i'm wrong!!!! :)

CAS 50% (i heard this is actually indeed true)
CALS about 54%??
Engineering 37%
Hotel 25%
ILR 36%???
human ecology 36%???
Architecture (the lowest of all) about 24%??

Even these percentage average comes out to only 37%... so certain colleges' rates are definitely higher than my assumption which is great!!!!!! :) ;)

CAS definitely less than engineering..engineering has the highest acceptance rate out of all school in general, hard to believe but true, and i dont see why this would be almost the opposite in ED round...and when you are doing the average,, u also missed an important part, the size of the college..

39% is not high at all for Ivy League ED -- they're infamous for using it to cut down the regular decision admission rate. In the 90s for a time, Penn had an ED acceptance rate of over 80%

I don't know how much we can depend on the 40% chance to ease our minds. We have obviosly seen brilliant (or at least seemingly) applicants being rejected.....

Guys, just so you know. CAS has a MUCH lower acceptance rate than CALS and Engineering. This is not because of diminished standards for those two schools, merely a consequence of self-selectivity. Check the ED roster: probably more than 70% of applicants designated a major in CAS.

For transfers,
Cornell CAS has a rate of 8% while CALS is chilling at 50%.

ED rate of 39% is actually considered high.... ya upenn might have had acceptance rate of 80%, you hab to also consider the time period of when that happened...

Obviously, more and more people are applying to Ivy league schools.
That's why you hab to admit that about 40% of ED rate is pretty much good... i mean Cornell has the Highest admit rate of all ivy leagues...

And, ya i thought that CAS has one of the lowest admit ED rate for acceptance. BUt someone on this forum told me that last year, 350 out of 700 ED CAS applicants were accepted. He heard this from a lady who works at the Cornell front desk.

So i'm just hoping that this info. is true!!!

but then there's the classic argument that 39% includes recruited athletes, minorities, and legacies (who mostly apply ED)....just to provide a little optimism :/ Oh....and the 700 figure sounds off to me...maybe that info is outdated? I donno but that doesn't sound right. (esp. because if CAS were 50% acceptance rate, most of the other schools would be higher i would think...so it wouldn't average out to 39%?? and that really doesn't sound like enough applicants to CAS...) But anyway...none of this is really gonna matter to us one way or the other in about 5 days...

yea this means nothing...as someone else said, most of the Ivy League has high ED acceptance rates. even Pton accepted like almost 35% ED last year and the previous. and yea penn as someone mentioned was high.
