GW 2009 Admissions Numbers Stable

Recently released acceptance figures for GW's incoming class of 2013 are on par with previous years, but the size of next year's incoming class is far from certain due to the widespread financial turmoil.

The University sent out regular decision acceptance letters to 6,200 students last week, meaning total selectivity remained almost unchanged at 37 percent - including early decision acceptances. The total number of applications also remained stable at about 19,500.

Admissions steady in rocky times by Rachel Barker.

CC mentioned in last paragraph, too.

I did not need to know that the 37% acceptance rate included ED. That sucks.

Please explain, What sucks? I’m missing somethings.

It sucks because it means the RD rate is even lower than 37%.

It’s true. ED acceptance rate hovers around 50%. So yes, RD will be less than the 37% quoted. If GW is truly your first choice, and finaid is not a deal breaker- go ED or EDII.

The admissions rate may have been stable, but the yield went up about 2%.

I was accepted ED I this year. SAT was 1800, gpa was around 3.6.
If you really want to go to GW, ED I or II is the best way to go.

idk i mean 37% is an intermediate level of acceptance rate. it’s not ridiculously low now a very easy admit for most applicants. i got in RD and will likely go next year.

To Maho - you do realize this is 2009 data. Class of 2013.

This was covered in another thread - 31.5% admitted this year (2010).

yea but it still relates to this year. collegeboard posts 37% admit rate this year and it was the same last year so my comment stands

Collegeboard does not yet reflect the admit rate of the class of 2014. You can go to this article if you want the details.
