Do students @ the Mount Vernon Campus only take classes/take most of their classes @ Mount Vernon? & Whats the difference between Mount Vernon & Foggy Bottom besides the fact that the students live on different campuses?

Homeschool: Students take classes in either campus, regardless of where they live, it’s only an option. Same labs are offered only in MV though, like Grography…
MV has more of a campus feel, with the soccer fields, etc. The other is more urban. Dorms are really nice in MV. Transportation between campuses is a joke, only 15 min max. So it’s a matter of preference.

Homeschool: to add to GWSenior, the classes seem to be smaller on MV too. I was trying to get into an afternoon lab there so I could just hang out and relax after.

thank you…and you can choose which campus to attend??

Homeschool: It’s not really that you “attend” one campus; they are both equally a part of the University as a whole. You can choose whether you want to live there, and when you register for classes you can choose whether or not to register for ones being held on Mount Vernon.

OG: I don’t know what the typical stats are for merit scholarships, but if you browse some of the topics on here I’m pretty sure some people have posted their stats and amount of money they received.

Hey GWSenior…hopefully one last question. I have to get a Response Card RF Keypad. Can this be bought used? I know what they are for but wonder if there is a code for the professors class that has to be registered or something. Found a bunch on amazon for half the price of the bookstore

PS: I called the bookstore today to get the ISBN number for a book and was told that it was against company policy to give this out…guess they are hoping to keep it all in house. When I ordered it (it was a bundle), I received an email telling me it was backordered! Crazy.

you should’ve just looked it up yourself instead of giving in and paying for it. Those prices are ridiculous.

Corindia-I did. In fact contacted the company BUT they don’t sell the individual components (DVD) to students so purchasing them used isn’t an option like the rest of my books were and this is a newly published bundle. Also, the used book alone is 2/3rd the price of the bundle-new.

nbg: That sucks about the bookstore…they must be cracking down or something, because I never had a problem with that before.

I don’t have any experience with the response card, so I’m not sure how it works. I would definitely, definitely recommend emailing your professor and asking. I really can’t even begin to tell you how much money I saved by asking if it was OK to buy used or older editions of textbooks.

Also, just so you all know, I am moving out of DC this week so I won’t have time to frequent this board as much as I used to. If you have specific questions though, please feel free to PM me and I’ll try to get back to you. Good luck to everyone who is starting in the fall!

Good luck! Thanks so much for all the answers!

Look how may people have viewed or responded to you since your first put up this thread. You were invaluable to many of us! Good luck to you too!

Good Luck, GW Senior ( or I might say GW alumn!) and Thank you for all the time you took to answer the questions we may have had. Enjoy Law School!

you have been so generous and patient best wishes and thanks

Thanks from me too GW Alumn (aka Senior). You have really provided so much help to all!
Good luck in Law School.

Good luck. I went to Colonial Insights and it was a great experience. Not sure, do you know how many of the Colonial Insights get accepted? Wish you well!!

does anybody know when students can leave for TG break? do classes go into the evening the wednesday before ? trying to get a flight

S had a class last year that met from 3:30 to 6 on Wed & it was cancelled the day before Thanksgiving. I don’t know what the general trend is on campus regarding a cutoff time, but, this is college & you don’t have to attend every class.

thank you for your quick response

Similar experience with my dot, the professors seem to understand many folks need to leave on Wednesday, so many classes are either cancelled or you can do makeup work if needed. Just let the prof know your situation.

lightmom: I have always taken off the wednesday before txgiving, and never had a problem because most of the classes except for labs sometimes, will be closed anyway.
