GWU vs Fordham U

I just finished my second year at the Columbian college of arts and sciences at The George Washington University in DC and I just got accepted to the Fordham Rose Hill campus in the Bronx, nyc as a rising junior. Although I did make many friends at GW, I did not like the school nor the city but I only have two more years left. Should I transfer to Fordham to a City in which I like or Should I stay at GW?

Can you afford the move, tuition and other fees?

yeah, I mean fordham would be cheaper especially living in the bronx.

FWIW, my niece transferred from GW for her junior and senior years and did just fine. Just completed her PhD in psychology last year and is now well employed.

I think you should go for it. 2 years is a long time to be unhappy…you applied there for a reason.

Although Fordham is on the outskirts of the city, it is still ‘in the city’. I have been to Fordham a few times (just finished up at NYU) and it was beautiful, and everyone I know who has gone there has loved it. And although in the city, I feel like fordham kids keep themselves close to one another. From what I hear, it is a very big bar school, but fortunately kids tend to travel to the same set of bars by the campus. But if you get sick of the bronx, the rest of nyc is at your finger tips. I just finished my first year at NYU and didn’t like it because the lack of community there was, and the fact that there was no ‘set’ of places kids hung out. Kids traveled all over the city to have a good time on the weekends, and I just wanted to be with a big group in the same place. I feel like fordham might have been a better option for me.

I actually think NYU and GWU are very much the same socially. And then American and Fordham are similar as well (slightly removed from the city). Also…georgetown and Columbia are similar as well, if I might say so.

I feel like academically they are very similar though GWU and fordham. If you want to do something in poli sci probably d.c. will be your best bet. NYC is pretty versatile to though.
