which state school within cornell would i be safest applying to (meaning having the greatest chance of getting in): CALS, ILR, or HumanEc if i am undecided. i have a somewhat impressive background in math, research, and community service to make up for obviously low test scores...but i am unfortunately back to square one in deciding what major to choose. so right now i just wanna get in and i will make the most of the school i get into once i get in...i can picture myself in any field at this time. so please help me out...should i go undecided or would i have a greater chance of admission with a specific major?

sats: 2000: M720 CR580 W700
math ic: 730
math iic: 640
bio: very bad...might retake

some extracurriculars: science research, math team captain, sparc community service VP, spanish honor soc secretary, key club, diversity club, debate, vars tennis/vars track, chorus, orchestra concert mistress..

awards: george washington university engineering medal, community service award, amc10 winner, hopefully intel this year, science fair awards, school awards in diff subjects, and some insignificant minor awards

so please lemme know what you think based on my stats and such. clearly i am bad at reading =

"clearly i am bad at reading =\"

so no to ILR. Also, your EC's don't match with ILR.

here's the problem ... the undeclared major is in arts and sciences. This is the school you will apply to, otherwise you're going to have to pick a major. Admissions may very well pick up on this and just reject you because of it. Either pick a major in CALS or HumEc or apply to CAS (where you should be applying anyways).

thanks gomestar. um see the thing is im a NYer so i probly should choose a state school so cas is not on my list. my science research which ive been doing for almost 4 years now is about e.coli and bacteria's resistance to certain types of things...so people keep telling me to go for food science. if you're in the science field maybe u can help me out..would i be a match for nutritional sciences as well if i apply to human ecology b.c that sounds more interesting than food science...

i'm not in the sciences, but i do know there's a nutritional sciences-type major somewheres at Cornell. It may be the Human Ecology one you're talking about. If this is what floats your boat, then apply to HumEc with the intention of being a food-sciences major - your research is about this so admissions would look upon this favorably.
