Had my Alum Interview!

<p>Hi everybody!</p>

<p>I had my alum interview today at the law firm where she worked (very nice). She was a '97, so I'm thinking...29-30 years old? She was very young and fit-looking. Very friendly. The interview was a pleasant experience, but not at all what I thought it would be. I'd been prepping myself to deal with "hardball" questions. She asked me how my year was going, why I wanted to go to Dartmouth, what I'd major in or take part in once I was there, etc. And that was it. She asked all the questions within the first five minutes of the interview. The rest of the time we chatted (mostly her) about the school, what I liked about it, etc.</p>

<p>I mentioned what dorms I liked, the D-Plan, reading the Review, etc. to let her know I'd done my homework and was serious. She didn't write anything down. I could be wrong, but it was almost as if she wasn't seeing if I was good enough for the school, but actually gauging my desire to go there, if that makes sense. </p>

<p>I wonder if they "matched" her to me. Reason being, she mentioned that there are about 20 alumni in the area. I end up with one who was editor of her high school paper (and an editor on The Dartmouth), who was a Government/History double major, who did an LSA in Germany, and who lived in East Wheelock (where I'd like to go). It was almost kind of creepy. We even had similar SAT scores. </p>

<p>Anyway, that was my interview experience. About 20 minutes. Very pleasant, but not really what I was expecting. Any thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Postulates? Theorems?</p>

<p>i had my alumni interview last saturday- one hour... it was awesome. he took notes, and i could tell that he was impressed. it was definitely my best interview cause he even told me like 3 times that he thinks i'll get in :) journo--i think you'll be fine-the alumni WANT you to get in.</p>

<p>me? well after he told me that i just told him that college admissions are crazy and you never know.</p>

<p>She didn't say anything "definite" about my chances.</p>

<p>She did say I had a stellar SAT score, that my 4.7 GPA was impressive and that it was clear that I'd challenged myself in school while being involved in meaningful things. You know, the usual. As for "you'll get in" or "try community college," she was mum.</p>
