[rant] I was going through some of my sister's old SAT stuff (from 3 years ago) to see if there was anything that would be useful, and believe it or not I found a book that cost S$7 (Approximately US$4.60) that is the most effective one any student can ask for. I flipped through the first two chapters and was amazed at the simplicity of the techniques offered and strategies to solve SAT verbal questions. I was astounded.

So I thought for a while, and I brought the book up to my shelf and set it next to my own SAT prep books, 3, thick books each about S$50, one by collegeboard, mcgraw-hill, and arco's. Given the choice I would have paid more than 50 to keep that comparatively older and thinner book and just dump out the three heavy and useless ones. I guess it's really a joke how much all these companies are earning, to the point where their strategies aren't really effective at all and people are just buying them for their namesake. Crazy.

There was one more thing that came to mind, and that is the fact that collegeboard's blue book is useless other than for their tests. I guess it makes sense that collegeboard wouldn't really give us the methods to solve their questions. Useless. [/endrant]

That's because they always update everything every year to make everything new and improved so people will buy the newer editions rather than the older ones.

Hm, I'm interested in knowing what book this is and who wrote/published it!

I doubt you'll find it, but it's done by Pearsons. The date on this thin orange book is 2003, so I'm not sure if it's still available, especially since it's bought from a bookstore in Singapore.

Basically it uses logic to approach questions. Extremely effective.

what is the exact name because pearsons makes many SAT books and its hard to find one in 2003..if you told us the exact title, it might be easier to get

that's not true. i found the college board book's explanations to be extremely useful. i bought 3 other SAT prep books, and out of all 4, the blue book had the clearest explanations. got me a 2390...dunno what youre grumbling about

I bought 3 books. Barrons, Princeton Review, and Collegeboard. I gave away Barrons and Princetons because they sucked. I ordered them online so I could not return. I just used Collegeboard as well. 2390

the blue book is the best because of the real tests imho. there comes a point when there is nothing else you can learn - technique wise - in correctly answering the SAT questions. The only thing you can do it perform at your highest on test day.

Yeah, a name would be much more helpful, or an ISBN, which would identify the exact book.
