hair salons?

i'm planning to go to a salon for the first time (i usually get my haircut from friends or in my hometown) in A2, so i hope some of you can help.

i am looking for a hairstylist who can understand how i want my hair to look like, but also can give suggestions on how to make it look even better, styles to avoid, how to maintain the style everyday, etc. i'm planning to have a regular haircut every couple of months.

how much am i looking to spend? assume i don't have a fixed budget for now. some of my friends say i should only look at Asian salons, though I don't see what's the difference. any suggestions?

???????????????
why did you post this here??????

do what i do...buzzcut before welcome week, again on fall break, thanksgiving, christmas, spring break, easter, YOURE DONE!!!

lol trust me, i look horrifying with a buzzcut (ex-convict according to a friend). no, i have long hair now, but i want a neat long hair.

strnage thing i noticed, white americans generally look great with most hairstyles.

For places to get your hair cut, I recommend the Aveda Douglas J institute. It's a beauty school in A2 and you have your hair cut done by the students for $15, no tipping allowed. It's like an educational salon. Everything is very professional and if youre lucky, your hair cutter will be hot. You can ask them for advice on what style, and what hair products to use.

is that the one near the maynard parking garage? could you recommend any particular stylist (hot not necessary :D)?

To there I go!

Yes that is by the Maynard parking garage.

I never know which stylist I'm getting since it is a school and students rotate all the time. All of them are more than able to cut your hair. Just tell them what you like.

You can also pay a little more (okay, a lot more) and go to the Aveda Exxchange. It's about $40, but it's good.

I recommend Raine at Salon in the City. I'm a parent, so I've been to a lot of salons, but I like Raine a lot and my two college-age daughters get their hair cut there and really like her too. It's a 5-6 blocks from campus and kind of expensive if you're used to having your friends cut your hair. I think I pay $48 for a cut. Aveda can be hit or miss. I think it depends on your hair and how complicated the cut is.
