Over the past two years UM severely cut EA admissions to combat over-enrollment:

I used the chat feature on the admissions page to check on something, after I’d received my answer, decided to ask for last year’s EA admission statistics. The person on the other side of the chat didn’t provide the numbers but did say UM is planning to take half the class from the EA round this year.
I know this may be met with some skepticism, I do have the chat log.
Do you have any idea how many people originally got in from EA versus RD? I’m trying to figure out if this would be a good or bad thing for class of 2021 EA applicants. And if you have the chat log, would you mind linking it?
ugh, yeah I’d love some clarification on this, I just applied EA!!!
when my son applied 3 years ago, the rumour was they took too many people ea…in the end, some very qualified applicants were rejected (take a look at old thread if interested). S2 was deferred (he withdrew his app when admitted to his ed school) two years ago, rumour here was that they were just taking a couple of thousand applicants and deferring the rest.
I see this as incredibly positive. I suggest someone use chat, email or phone to verify if interested.
Their total admissions in 2015 was 14,000 (EA + RD). If they do half in EA, that will be 7,000.
