halliburton / baker hughes

i'm interviewing for both companies as field engineers. What do you know about these companies and these jobs? I'm aware that the hours are pretty intense, around 100 hours a week, 7 days or more straight sometimes.

But the salaries are about 100k?

Which is the better company to work for? I heard baker pays more...

100 hours a week and you only make 100k? That's ludicrous.

If you have enough experience you should be able to get a job paying 70-80k working no more than 40 a week...

i agree, id rather have a job that works 40 a week pays 80...

i think it's more like 2 weeks on, 1 week off. so those 2 weeks you're working 100 hrs a week, 1 week off. so averages out to be about 70 hrs a week?

You'll be doing field work and basically be on call 24/7 during your work week. It is a pretty intense life style since you'll be at the site and will have to work whenever something goes wrong, be it 3 AM or 10 PM.

I'm pretty sure you'll be on rotation though.

Pays fairly well, makes a similar amount to those working as engineers in the majors. If you eventually want to work for a major it can be a good starting place.

yea the few guys ive talked to are making about 95k or so after about a year?

i heard you live in a trailer on the work site.

Do they pay for your housing then? Utilities? Any other bonuses?

Because getting payed 95k AFTER a year to work that much is rather pathetic really.
