Hamilton RD class of 2019

why can’t I see my decision on the portal? This is so weird. Can somebody help me? I didn’t have any problems with any other portals…

Are you able to get into the portal with your user name and password that Hamilton provided you with?

yup! @lemontwist Thanks for responding. My portal looks the same as it’s always looked.

Hamilton is not my first choice but I’d still like to know. It just feels strange not knowing. I guess if I don’t get snail mail, I’ll know I was waitlisted or denied.

It doesn’t mean you didn’t get in necessarily. There should be a big Congratulations banner across the top of the page if you did, but maybe something’s funky and you need to call them. Not my first choice either, but the awesome financial aid package makes me really happy that I have them as an option.Good luck when you find out!

Thanks @lemontwist‌. I wonder if it’s a glitch and I have to download an updated flash or perhaps use another browser. Do you use Safari?

Chrome

They give me considerably less financial aid than my other colleges so I will be appealing and hope they come up with a better package for me.

I take it Hamilton is your first choice then?

@Middkid86 Ran the NPC and Hamilton’s package was within $500.

^^
Are any of the colleges that awarded signficantly more aid members of the 568 Presidents’ Group?

Well, at least the NPC was fairly accurate. That’s good to know.

My experience with Hamilton FA as compared to several NESCAC peer schools was the opposite of yours, in that Hamilton was $10k to $12k higher with aid offers. As compared to the other schools I was running numbers on, Hamilton more closely follows the federal methodology - they do not factor in primary home equity, and they consider both parent owned and student owned 529 accounts to be a parent asset. Most CSS school will consider primary home equity to be a reportable asset, and some CSS schools will count student owned 529 accounts as a student asset, as opposed to a parent asset.

^^
Colleges that do not include home equity in aid calculations:
Bard College
Bucknell University
California Institute of Technology
DePauw University
Hamilton College
Harvard University
Princeton University
Santa Clara University
University of Virginia
Washington University, St. Louis
Whitman College

It all depends on aid really. But I only value one college more than Hamilton if I get the same amount of aid from all my colleges and thats Pomona.
