I need to decide. Can someone help me?

We live in Western New York...daughter would love to go to Hamilton. The campus is beautiful, but kind of in the middle of nowhere. If you have a car drving to Syracuse isn't too far for shopping, shows etc. Everyone on campus was super friendly. The academics are highly rated. I would love to have my daughter attned and think she would get a top notch education. Hopefully we'll get the $$$ from Hamilton! Good luck with your decision. It is really hard, but go with your heart and once you've made the decision relax and enjoy the rest of your senior year!!

Thanks!

Okay, more info, just so you know. I'm international, from India. I don't have a car. I want to double major in Computer Science and Creative Writing. I think I'll get a top-notch education both places >.<. I've heard that Hamilton's really preppy, okay, everyone says it's not, but why do some people say it is?

My senior year's over :). My last final was today. So yeah, I get to concentrate on the decision full time.

basically because some old stereotypes never die, despite the changes that have taken place. I personally am good friends with 5 people who have gone or are there now and not one of them is preppy.

These two schools have similar academic ratings and are both located in small towns. Oberlin is more accessible, located 30 minutes from a major airport. It's larger and has a more diverse student body. If you like music, Oberlin's conservatory is a plus. There are concerts offered all the time. Hamilton is rumored to have a more serious drug and alcohol problem (main source is c o l l e g e p r o w l e r). My choice would be Oberlin.

Daughter visited many campuses...absolutely fell in love with Hamilton. Kids are super friendly, great academics. New arts, theatre, museum buildings in design phase.

As for Hamilton being preppy - well, a lot of students are. However, that's a really big generalization, because a lot of students aren't at all preppy (myself included). The dark side of campus especially has a very artsy feel. What I love about Hamilton is the different types of people here - it's not a school where just preppy kids or artsy kids come, all sorts of people are here. Writing is especially strong at Hamilton, and I've heard great things about the creative writing major here. On the drug issue, I wouldn't say that Hamilton has any more of a problem than most other colleges - and it's definitely not in your face if you're not looking for it. Also, Hamilton isn't as in the middle of nowhere as I thought it would be, because there's a town with lots of shopping and restaurants less than 15 min away. There's a bus service to take you there, and it's easy to find people with cars to share rides. Sorry this post is sort of all over the place, but I hope it helps!

Questionable info. Doubt this is based on hard facts.
