Hard Major or High GPA?

Hello!

I am currently a second year Finance major with a relatively high GPA (3.85) after completing 30 credits my first year. However, my classes this year (as I am getting into my major) or proving to be extremely difficult and I’m worried my GPA will falter as a result. A lot of my friends got into a prestigious honor society (Phi Kappa Phi) and truthfully, I was jealous and I was wondering if putting myself through finance was really worth it.
I would probably switch to Economics, which is a much easier major at my school, and not hard to complete at all.
Another reason why I may not be doing great in school is because I am over involved in extra curriculars. I am trying to work on that right now, but I need to seriously re evaluate my commitments before I cut out anything.
I honestly don’t care a lot about finance, but I want a lot of job prospects and potential for a high salary in the future.

What should I do?

Thank you so much, if you need to ask any follow up questions please do! I appreciate it so much

“I honestly don’t care a lot about finance,”

Then is finance what you want to do for the rest of your life? One secret about a high income: Most people who have a high income end up finding a way to spend it, which they get committed to meaning that they are stuck doing what they are going. If they like what they are doing then this is fine. If they don’t like it then they could be in an unfortunate situation.

Jealousy is a very bad reason to change your major. Not liking what you are going is a better reason.

By the way, a LOT of students change their majors. This is normal and picking a major is hard.

Well, there are a lot of job prospects for high salaries in economics, too. If you don’t care about finance and you are struggling then it may make sense to change your major to something else.
