Is it hard to mantain a GPA of 3.5-4.0 in BU majoring on economics?

depends on your study habits.

I don’t know how accurate it is, but there are common rumors of “grade deflation” at BU (type in “grade deflation” and see what Google recommends to finish the statement). And depending on your study habits and balance of social life, it might be harder than you think. Take into account courses with multiple professors and different grading or difficulties, and little things can get in the way of your desired GPA.

How can you say that if you go to BU and are in BUCOP? I can understand the “harder than you think” part because that’s true of college generally - and especially when you are responsible for your own life (which some people don’t do well). But internet rumors? Jeez.

If you’re smart enough and work well, then you can get whatever grades you want at BU. One of my kids had a 3.9 and that included a B+ in the final semester - and two semesters of 4.0. She was certainly not alone. And believe me, when you go to graduation, you’ll hear kids graduating with two degrees and both summa or magna.
