Is it really hard to get good GPA at BU?

Is is really hard to get good GPA at BU? Are professors intentionally trying to give students a hard time…? I am quite scared…

There’s no reason to be scared or even concerned unless you are considering grad school or med school. No, professors are not trying to give students a hard time - it’s just a generally tougher grading scale across the school. Even if you are planning to go to med or grad school, some are aware of the grade deflation to varying degrees and consider it in their admissions. From a professional perspective, I really wouldn’t worry about it. It affects high GPA’s more I think. It’s not hard to get say a 3.0, which is really all many employers look for: a 3.0 or above.

But I am actually looking into dental schools, so GPA does really matter… they usually want 3.5 or higher, but BU’s average GPA is 3.05

What are the other schools you’re considering? If you have equal options, it could be a good tiebreaker, but I still wouldn’t weight it too heavily.

I’m a current pre-med student and last semester i finished with a 3.7. If you work really hard and don’t procrastinate/goof off and actually do your work and study, you’ll do fine. If you’re the type of student that doesn’t put much work in then I don’t know if BU is right for you.
