Harder?

I’m interested in biomedical engineering major for GT, but would it be harder to get admitted to be applying as an engineering major?

Georgia Tech admits to the school as a whole. Computer science, biomedical engineering and computer engineering are pretty crowded majors as is mechanical engineering, as I understand it. Lots of students start in biomedical engineering but find out that they really want to major in chemical engineering which requires thermodynamics, more organic chemistry and kinetics. Biomedical engineering includes a little electrical engineering, a little mechanical engineering and physiology. Study the courses required by each degree. That will help you figure out more about what might be fun to major in. I think a lot of premedical students tend to study biomedical engineering, which makes it an unpleasant major at some universities. Premedical students tend to be very focused on grades and not focused on learning.

Keep in mind, too, that Tech seems to have gotten savvy to the whole “apply to an easier major and immediately switch” thing. The latest admitted student newsletter states that it’s now impossible to change your major before starting classes, so whatever you applied for and were admitted as, that’s your major for at least the first semester.
