Intimacy, love, and marriage are three (different, if interrelated, subjects).

a)different, if interrelated, subjects
b)
c)
d)different subjects when interrelated
e)

answer is.....

...
..
A

what's the difference between A and D and do you agree that this is not the best question in the world?

well, A makes sense while D doesn’t. A subject can’t be different when interrelated. It makes no sense. OTOH, saying “different, if interrelated” makes sense and is correct.

■■■ im dumb wow idk i totally misread/miseverything that question ugh this stupid thing cost my dream score >:(

Subjects can be different and interrelated, and even IF they couldn’t, that wouldn’t mean A is the answer. The key to solving this problem is knowing the meanings of “if” and “when.” In other words, you look at the meaning of the words, not the meaning of the sentence, to figure out the answer.

The error lies in the fact that “when” implies a time period, which makes no sense. One of the definitions of “if” is “even though.” “When” and “if” are only close to interchangeable if you use “if” as “in the event that”

yeah exactly. i didnt realize that during testing…i thought the “if” and “when” were saying the same thing there, which isnt the case
