But why would it take them so long to send out the rejections if there isn’t any room left? It seems like if all that’s left is bad news, it would have been easy enough for them to send out a rejection email by now… They must still be deliberating SOMETHING or it wouldn’t be taking this long (I would assume/hope)
Also, when I called last week they said that all decisions would be out by July 5th, which is why we’re all a bit antsy/confused… At this point I’ll be fine with either result, but I just need an end to this waiting!
Admissions may be waiting for “summer melt” . . . and that may not happen this year: http://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/2015/07/30/121324/what-summer-melt-means-for-college-students/
My guidance counselor talked to the regional admissions person at Harvard and was told that they like to finish everything by July 1 but sometimes it goes into mid July.
I have been reading about summer melt. The majority are very poor first gen students who just don’t show up even when the accepted school comes with fantastic financial support like Harvard. They look at factors like signing up for classes, turning in health forms and filling out the roommate questionnaire. Harvard leads the way in using strategies to help these students stay on the college path.
I just called the admissions office - and was told that “today is the day” - they had some issues which pushed things back a few days (no details were provided there) - but all remaining applicants will receive an email with “yes / no / gap” today at 5pm, EST. Some admissions officers are on vacation, so not everyone has received calls, and may not receive calls – but emails are going out today.
No email – but portal was updated. No. At least the wait is over.
Just curious – anyone receive/have received the Z-list offer and are you going to say yes/no?
We got a no. Wait is over.
What is your outcome #m22boys?
Got a NO…wait over for me too.
