Harvard 2024 Waitlist Thread

@airway1 No deposit is required. You just click the radio button that says accept, decline, or deferral.

@ivyking I only say Friday because the first major wave last year was on the 15th (check Reddit). Additionally, last year, yield data was released about 5 days earlier than waitlist decisions

manifesting harvard!

We love ya Harv!!! Pleaseee bless us with some clarity today

Good luck everyone! Y’all seem like amazing people who will thrive regardless of where they go!

Are we thinking calls are coming today?

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what time of day they make phone calls/release decisions? I know it’s “after the school day” but that could be anywhere from 3pm to 10pm

From last year’s thread, they said they call you around 3-6 pm your time

Honestly, the fact that they’re withholding yield despite that it was posted by this time last year might be a good sign for waitlisted kids. If it were as good or better than last year, I’d imagine they would want to get that info out as soon as possible to show they’re not being hit very hard by the virus.

I completely agree! Hopefully we’ll hear sooner rather than later and they’ll be eager to pull from the waitlist

Will there be an update in the portal or just a phone call? I don’t check phone calls so I wanna know if I can just check the portal

Has anyone heard anything yet?

Nope

Both. They call first. Then update your portal the next day usually.

Any updates?

I’m guessing Monday. The last two years were on a Monday

https://cornellsun.com/2020/05/13/cornell-receives-higher-than-target-admissions-acceptances-for-class-of-2024/

Cornell had a better yield and 160 waitlist admits up until now- hopefully not indicative of Harvard but just interesting

I don’t think that was talking about actual yield…the article says:

"Incoming first-year students were admitted off the waitlist before May 1 this year because, as the Cornell admissions office tracked responses in April, they knew accepted admissions offers were lower than desired, so “there was no reason to wait,” Jonathan Burdick, vice provost for enrollment, told The Sun.

Responses from admitted waitlisted students in April were “very positive,” Burdick said, balancing out enrollment numbers."

So basically people accepting waitlist positions was high

Okay might have read it wrong then! That’s reassuring then!

I think this week is done guys, sad to say. Monday or Tuesday are our most likely days, if other years are any indication.
