Having to wait on this answer from Harvard is going to be literally agonizing. Especially since there’s no school and nothing to distract myself with.
Exactly! We are left to our thought more often than we would like. In result, all I am thinking is about colleges and it is also causing me to increase my source of hope to get in.
Did anybody have an AO interview. I got one in late February, and everybody as saying its a good sign
That was before regular decisions were released. Also I am not sure that the person who interviews you matters, but maybe it would be a sign if they ask for another interview. Not everyone has admissions officers to interview them.
I’m aiming towards mid-April, but in the email they probably won’t even look at additional waitlist materials until after May 1st I assume despite other schools already resorting to their waitlists
@kkotha It is a good sign for RD. I was skeptical as well when I received the interview request from the person who read my file, and pushed me to final committees, but after taking a look at the court docs, AO interview applicants have 50% acceptance rate. Although, it is a better sign if you get an interview during the waitlist process!
I wish you the best of luck! We are all rooting for each other here!
Hello, did anyone receive two different waitlist confirmation emails at the same time? After I filled out the waitlist form to confirm my place on the waitlist, I received two emails: one confirming my place on the waitlist and another about me not accepting their waitlist place. But in my portal, it still says that I’m confirmed to be on their waitlist. Please let me know what emails you guys have gotten!
They sent an additional email apologizing for their mistake.
Yeah I got that email too; their form must have glitched.
did anyone else not get any emails about that?
Thanks for telling! I wonder why I didn’t receive that additional email.
Good luck to you all!! I know it’s not likely but I hope we all get in!! I’m thinking of committing to Rice in the meantime but Harvard was my dream school which makes it so hard not to be hopeful.
does anyone think that the current situation means they may pull from the waitlist before May 1?
Many elite schools have already started pulling from the waitlist: Chicago, Dartmouth, Georgia Tech, etc. Due to lack of deposits. Any word on whether Harvard will follow suit?
Where have you seen that Dartmouth has begun taking from
The waitlist? I am unable to verify this information. The other two schools have been I can see.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, or at least began consideration. Without admitted student events they cannot predict the yield . In this article on the Harvard Crimson somebody predicted that they would go deeper into waitlist this year.
Some schools like it when you sent a letter of intent in as soon as possible. That way, they know you are really eager to attend. And I’m not sure many people can do a LOT during this shelter in place, although some can. BUT, to be honest, this waitlist position is difficult. If someone rejects an offer of admission, they will look to the waitlist to take someone off similar(accomplishment-wise, gender, location/region, and even race to meet quotas). It is not really in our control. That’s why the waitlist is more of a limbo than regular decisions. Your possibility of being accepted is completely dependent on who rejects their spot.
Had Darthmouth and UChicago said they would pull from their waitlist earlier? I doubt that Harvard would because it is such a top tier school but that would be nice to know our answer earlier.
