Apparently Yale did as well (saw this on a Stanford waitlist thread on here)
Dang, that is crazy. Those are the top tier of the Ivy leagues and they’re already pulling off the waiting lists. Although I’m not sure if I completely trust the sources. But crossing my finger that we will hear from them soon!
Keep in mind they might not get an international student freshman class this year if I20s cant be shipped, US embassies don’t open up to process visas and US doesn’t open international travel. Plus some countries have cancelled national exams. Also, from what I am seeing, International students are being urged by their nations/parents to leave the US (having to deal with it as a parent of two college kids)
Don’t forget their graduate programs are going to be hit badly. I read that a lot of the top MBA schools are extending their deadlines
@kkotha I wouldn’t get your hopes up about that. I highly doubt Yale or Dartmouth have done that; if they did there would be more sources mentioning it rather than a post on another schools thread. I saw the original reddit post where some said Dartmouth started using the WL early and it seemed very unreliable. As for UChicago and GT, they have pulled from WL early in the past years too. It’s been a week or two eary this year, not out of the norm.
If I turned in my Letter of Continued Interest today, would that be too late? Has Harvard already started looking at applications?
Just read that Boston University is considering a possible January 2021 reopening. Wow.
Better sooner rather than later I would say. I wouldn’t be surprised if they at least began reviewing applications.
I feel like they always need to prepare for the worst-case scenario. But theoretically speaking, countries that were put in a worse situation than us got slightly over the virus in about 6 weeks. We still have May, June, July, and August to see things die down. Also, we have half of April. Plus the virus has already been in the US for a considerable amount of time. People will not be stupid enough to travel too much during the summer. I think fall semester not happening physically is a low probability, but once again, not out of the question. I think colleges want to be more prepared because they definitely weren’t prepared for this.
what areas of study did you guys apply for? and what state/region are you all from?
I am a biological science concentration and am from the Silicon Valley Area in California. How about you?
I applied as an English major and am considering submitting a creative writing piece with my LOCI. Does this sound like a good idea? I didn’t submit any written pieces with my original application aside from the common app and supplemental essays of course.
Biological Sciences major, Grand Rapids, Michigan
no way! biological sciences and rochester, MI!
wow that’s crazy! Where do you plan on committing in the meantime?
Three kids from my class of 200 alone… somethings up
Dang!! From what I am seeing, not many from California but a whole lot of Michigan lol
@kkotha I’m from CA. Must be some bright kids in Michigan though lol
ooo what part?
@kkotha Socal
