Harvard Additional Essay

I will be applying to Harvard using the CommonApp. Now, there is a Harvard supplement I need to submit. On this form there is space for an additional essay. They say something like "if you want to tell us anything else, do so now". Is this space meant to clarify on some aspects. For example, in my application to Stanford, I explained why I couldn't take some courses or explained the meaning of a certain competition and so on.
Is that the right place to do so, or should it be a real essay?

There's a place on the Common App where you can put additional information in. I think that would be the best place to do your explaining.

Really? I just had a look at the PDF version of the CommonApp, and I can just spot one short essay and one long one. Where's the additional essay on the Common App?

There's no additional essay section. Instead there's a section titled "Additional Information", where you can explain whatever you feel necessary.

Ok, so the additional essay on the Harvard Supplement really is a second main essay? How many of you take this essay? Is it common to take it?

And BTW, I still don't see the Additional Information section on the CommonApp. I'm having a look at this PDF file: http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/utilities/electronic_resources/download/Rollo0607_CommonApp.pdf
Am I blind?

Yea it seems that the PDF version of Common App doesn't have the Additional Information section...but the online one does...if possible, you should apply online.

Ok, thx, that's what I'll be doing anyway.
So, do you guys answer the Harvard Additional Essay? Is it recommendable to do so?

Writing the additional won't determine whether you get in or not. However, if you feel like you have something else you want to say that may reveal more about you, I'd suggest you write one.

you better write one although it is not mandatory.
