Harvard should not take federal money if it doesn’t want to get sued. Lol. I just find it weird to argue that organizations should reflect general population makeup. How about in politics? Senate? House of Reps? Symphonies? Operas? NBA? Hollywood? Granted that these organizations don’t receive federal money, but that is a legal factor, not a fairness factor. In some sense, I cannot help but feel Asian American students are being used to further Trump’s political agenda. I would like to say just because a case cannot be proven does not mean it’s not true because burden on the person filing complaint is high.
I don’t see this lawsuit getting far. Harvard can come up with a number of reasons why it didn’t accept more Asians. The admissions process is too qualitative to conclude that there was discrimination. This isn’t to say there was no discrimination. I believe there is. It’s interesting that more Asians got in EA this year than last.
