Harvard and the others-- differences?

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been already beat into the ground, but I wasn't able to find any discussions about this topic (most seemed to revolve around acceptance rates/"prestige"/etc.)

I was wondering if someone, who preferably has personal experience, could tell me about the differences (with respect to fit, student atmosphere, culture, opportunities) between Harvard and the other Ivy Leagues (excluding Princeton). I am contemplating going to Harvard for a week or two next semester and just staying with a friend to get a feel for the atmosphere, but I thought this might be a better option to try first, since I'm not really sure missing 1-2 weeks of classes would be the ideal option.

EDIT: Also, anything related to differences regarding opportunities in the field of financial services would also greatly be appreciated.

You should be able to get a feel for fit in a weekend or, ideally, a 3-day one where you see one day of classes.

How about with regards to opportunities, extracurriculars and social life? I doubt I can get a feel for them in a weekend.

Also, to clarify, I’m currently a rising sophomore in college, which is why I said except Princeton in my original post as it doesn’t currently allow transfers.

But then, why would you want to do that? are you planning to transfer from Cornell to Harvard?

I’m considering transferring, not specifically to Harvard perse. I’m currently trying to get an understanding of how everything at other schools differs to see if they might suit me better.
