I'm so excited guys. The deadline is near for Regular Decision. Can't wait to see decisions.
Good luck everybody! :)

Hey everyone! I’m a deferee from REA. Nice to meet all of you! :)

@calliemoon11 Same here, lets hope for the best in March :)

Hey everyone, I’m wondering whether I should waive the fee for the application or not. Will it affect my application if I decide to waive the fee?

Basically, my family’s financial situation has worsened in the last three months and paying the fee will be difficult. Especially considering that i’m applying to other colleges too.

Hello everyone! I have also been deferred and after stalking these threads for a while I decided to post as well. (btw, international here)

@curtisdean Waiving the fee has no effect on admissions. I waived it (despite not even proving my economic need since I had extenuating circumstances and didn’t meet any of the qualifiers). I was accepted. Use the waiver!

Yup, waive the fee! It has no bearing; if anything, it shows them that you’re going through extenuating circumstance / hardship which can be an added plus.

Hi, I got accepted for early action! Really excited! Good luck to everyone!

Hello! I sent an email asking for a fee waiver, but still no response. How did you guys receive yours?

@MMVenezuela I also sent an email for the fee waiver and the reply arrived very late(one week+). You could also check your applicant portal to see if it says received next to the fee waiver.

Hi everyone! I’m also applying RD to Harvard and also Yale. I recently got accepted into Princeton SCEA but my family wants to keep my options open so why not apply to the rest of the “holy trinity” haha anyways good luck to all

why am i even here? everyone on this forum is 10 million times better than me…LOL… Good luck to you, future Harvardians! May the odds be in your favor.

Hey guys, would really appreciate your advice with this. One of my friends who was an RSI participant was deferred SCEA from Harvard. She has 2370+ sat scores, near perfect SAT2, 4.0 UW GPA, numerous research publications, played at Carnegie hall, and did a BUNCH of other stuff including debate and key club.

She’s like in shock right now that she was deferred from Harvard (she just told me lol) and she asked me to ask the CC community if she has a good chance at RD. I read that going from deferred to accepted in RD is about 2% but in the 2005 thread I also read that many RSI/intel people were Deferred SCEA and accepted RD. any thoughts?

@Deriveme I think your friend has to remember that getting deferred is not a bad thing and that A LOT of people go through that process. Also, while her test scores and GPA are amazing, it will more than likely NOT be the reason why a college as competitive as Harvard would want her. Once in the admissions office, I think the officers get to a point where they look pass the SAT/ACT scores and focus on the person. So maybe her essay didn’t show who she was or maybe her application as a whole was 1-dimensional. I think that it all comes down to what she wrote in her essays and what her letters of rec said about her in order to determine her fate in RD. Good luck to her though! Even if Harvard is not where she’s meant to be, other competitive schools might still want her

whew, just submitted the CommonApp… Now I just have to wait for my rejection letter!

also, carnegie hall isn’t that big a deal. unfortunately, she has a very stereotypically asian profile…is she asian?

So if y’all did the optional essay, what did you all write about? I just reused my essay from my Princeton app about my culture not because I’m lazy but because I felt like it was strong haha

@PrincPlease21 I just reused my Princeton essay too

As long as your essay reveals something about you that hasn’t already been touched on in any other portion of your application, it is fine to reuse your Pton essay @princplease21 For me though, I did SCEA for Harvard and I wrote an essay specifically for Harvard.

Just submitted my application tonight! Ahhhhh the end of March cannot come soon enough.
