Harvard Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Hey if there would be a acceptance let your family be a part of it coz joys will get multiplied and a rejection won’t hurt as you know there are people behind you …

I am going to open it with my girlfriend, and two of my best friends. Since as per my time zone, it’ll be 4:30 AM on the 18th Dec’20 so we’ve planned to have a zoom call where I’ll share my screen.
Also, may be I get rejected I’ll record my reaction and may be I won’t upload it to YouTube, but keep it to look back at these applications and the nervous decision days for an 18 year old me :joy::joy::joy::joy:

It’s up to you to post the video or not, but I would recommend everyone to record the reaction (may be just keep it with you), but you’ll really enjoy and get a feeling of nostalgia about it in the future.

Sooo … what are your plans for the D-day ?

Nothing it would be 17 December 3:30 am … Just having a blanket around so that I can jump out of it in good times or just cry in peace …

Prob just stress a bunch. Honestly I hate how colleges seem to just build up the nerves/anxieties we all have. I know it might be tough, but I feel like if colleges gave like a ‘Likely to be Accepted/Deferred/Rejected’ letter beforehand in an email it would just relieve some of this stress/anticipation.

Johnny weren’t you supposed to withdraw/move your applications to RD because you applied to 3 schools ea??

Awesome Answer! @Johnnysickens

Yeah, that could help. But I think we’d all just be stressed to get that extra letter just as much as the official decision. Honestly, I kind of want to hibernate until tomorrow night.

Well my dad was actually on a business trip and he’s cutting it short just to be here for the decision so I’m prolly gonna have to let him see lol. And my mom’s super hyped too, so yeah :))

It’s 5:30 am IST lol

Yeah true that and OMG I’mma do the same thing too lol

ohh I saw it now, I actually entered 6 PM in ET while converting it to IST🤣

It actually ended up being true from what I’ve heard. Not sure if the same will apply to Harvard tho lol

How many of you attended Harvard Summer School? If so, what were your grades?

Here from getting my deferral with Yale REA! Being the INTJ (supposedly the Harvard stereotyped personality) that I am, I’m here for RD and ready to see your guys’ results. Good luck to you all!

Huh I didn’t know INTJ was the stereotype…maybe being one will help me lmao

In all reality though I’m trying to accept that I’ll be deferred

Yea, it sucks. It’s better than being outright rejected, though. I slipped some “Harvard” into my Yale alumni interview and I don’t think that I fit Yale’s ideal student personality (more feeling and extroverted), so I hope that you and I could maybe strike accordance with our supposedly “rare” personalities.

I would tread lightly with that thought.
First of all, I wouldn’t put an ounce of faith in the Myers-Briggs Test, it lacks reproducibility (all experiments should be able to be reproduced), and human personalities are just too complicated to be identified in such a manner (As my psychology teacher once said, “It’s just an updated version of the zodiac signs.”). Plus I’ve heard psychologists before complain about it ironically enough.
And each school chooses students based on the how they want to structure their incoming freshman class (I believe). Thus, supposedly, you’d be considered amongst students with similar interests and such. So if one was rejected, there was simply too many students that were far above their level in a similar field while if one was deferred, they were noticeable to some degree but just not noticeable enough. Though this is just speculation and observations from what I’ve read.

All of your points are correct. My use of Myers-Briggs is more of enjoyment, and if anything, it has very little significance, though it may possibly lean you towards a different personality score. It’s all relative, and we would never know what goes through the adcom’s minds.

I’m getting even more nervous. A friend of mine who is prob way smarter than me got deferred from UPenn ED and now it’s got me a bit shaken.

I’m sorry to hear that your friend got deferred. Admissions are so unpredictable, so don’t lose hope! I guess we will find out tomorrow how we all did.
