hello all. im currently in my junior level of high school. my problem is the city i live in doesnt have any advanced placement exam centers. so... im asking whether i can get into harvard or any other ivy league college without my AP results. ill appreciate any help in the matter. ill have only my sat 1 and sat 2 scores and my school results.

p.s. im in the top 5% or maybe top 1% of my year. i play piano pretty well(10 years). i play soccer for my school too.

p.p.s. i wanna get into a science course(physics) fyi. and as you might already have guessed im NOT a citizen of US.

Let me be frank: you’re asking the wrong question. You need to search for a variety of US colleges and not just the most selective. International students who are viable candidates to schools like Harvard and other top schools are among the handful of top students in their country each year. The international pool is extremely large and there are few spots.

@T26E4 thank u very much. but… whatever be the case i need to know whether the colleges need my AP scores or not, for ivy leaguers and other colleges alike. some more help in the matter will be very much appreciated.

p.s. and my country(india) doesnot offer any honors or accelerated or AP or IB courses. WHAT DO I DO???

p.p.s. and my high school scores are in percentage. i have no cgpa. plz help me.

AP scores are not required by any school I’ve looked at. But ACT with writing or SAT plus two SAT Subject tests are required by Harvard. Presumably applies to international students, but you can check this out for yourself from Harvard admissions web pages, I’m sure. Or email them.

@ T26E4. How do you know he’s searching for the most selective? Or are you just assuming so because he asked about Harvard and the Ivy league schools? Stop assuming and just simply answer his question. It’s just a simple question.

@akashdip what you can do is talk to your schools principal and ask if he/she can order AP exams if you self study for them. School’s don’t need to have AP classes in order to have their students take the AP exams. The school just needs to order by the deadline and have a teacher proctor it. Or you can travel far to another school that is an AP test center.

thanks @cortana431. i dont need AP courses at all. only exams will suffice. i can study myself. only trouble is im pretty sure my school wont do such a thing. anyway AP exams are most probably not offered in my city at all. makes me mad. anyway what about my cgpa. what can i do about it. as i said we get only percentages here. thanks again for the support.

cortana: since the OP did expressly ask about Harvard (and put it in his post’s title) and other Ivies, I gave the advice to widen his/her college selection process. In my mind, that’s more important what got the conversation started (the question about APs). Obviously many students from India come to US colleges every year. When a person cites “Harvard and other Ivies” in their first sentence, alarm bells ring whether the poster is aware of the real challenges involved, IMHO.

Since the poster only cites those, I don’t assume either way if other colleges are considered.

thanks for your concern @T26e4 , but im well aware of the situation thank you. you see i decided if i dont get into any of the ivy leaguers i wouldnt take the trouble to come to us for my undergraduates at all. you may call me narrow minded or foolish but actually in india we have some awesome schools too. so im saying that if i dont go to world’s best id go to my country’s best. in my country the schools accept rankwise according to a given entrance test. there are 10000 seats in the 12 IITs(indian institutes of technology) and 500,000 apply. im pretty sure i can get in there but still i wanna give my best shot for the ivies. and finance is pretty much a concern too. i need universities that give need blind aid. so you were right from the beginning @T26e4 as i AM selective about the schools that are selective(for they are the best).

chit-chats apart plz answer my questions properly.
